It's game night tonight
Once a week is when we play
We're having friends over
Because of this, we're all happy and gay
Ring ring! They're at the door
Oh look! they've brought a game that I adore
We roll to see who goes first
But wait!
It's me! In a position that I abhor.
I roll 7
Oh please! Let me get a card from heaven
It's not! "It reads," My dad hollers,
"'Go to jail! Do not pass go!
Do not collect $200.'"
I'm sad
I'm distraught
But then I have a thought,
"It's only a game.
Don't get mad.
Your spending time with friends and family"
For that I should be glad
Isn't it sad?
The fact that we take these things so seriously?
I think so.
Because when it gets to be your time to leave this world
Your possessions don't matter
Who won the game or not
Especially the latter
The things that matter aren't materialistic things,
And that's the part that makes it sting.
The things you've worked for in life:
Lots of money, a nice car
These things don't have any importance
The things that do matter are in front of you
But you just haven't noticed at all
It's now apparent
It's your friends, sisters, brothers, and parents
